August Java Talk

August 9, 2022 @ 7:30 am – 8:15 am

Join us for CSI’s monthly Java Talk on August 9th @ 7:30AM – 8:15AM

Art enhances mental health in a variety of different ways. Reduced stress, improved self-esteem, an increase of mental focus, and releasing of negative emotions are all positive benefits to using art therapy as a way to improve mental health. Some people draw, some people paint, some people knit, etc. There are endless opportunities of different art to try. It is important to note that it is not the result of the art, but the process that matters. The process of creating art, whichever way that might be, helps people identify the emotions they are feeling (CBHS Health, 2021). In the spirit of using art to enhance mental health, our Java Talk this month will be given by Jules Schroeder on the Art of Mental Wellness. Jules Schroeder is the Community Engagement Coordinator at Thelma Arts Center and has been with them since May of 2022. Thelma Arts Center is a non-profit organization that focuses on enriching the community through the arts. This is done through art education and by bringing performing and visual artists to the County. In this, they try to grow artistic excellence, personal excellence, and encourage enjoyment and appreciation of art. Please join us on August 9th from 7:30am-8:15am to learn more about the Art of Mental Wellness. We will be meeting via Zoom. See the below Zoom link for details.

See Jules’s bio: “Jules Schroeder was born and raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She moved to New York City after graduating high school, and the years have taken her to live in many cities including Chicago, Detroit, and Milwaukee. Schroeder has loved her time in each and taken many things with her, including lifelong friends. Schroeder grew up in a family run business, for which she is grateful and remembers fondly. She worked in retail and service industries for 22 years. Schroeder attended college for nursing and photography. Her journey led her back home in the fall of 2020. Schroeder worked briefly as an instructional aide in the Fond du Lac School District until applying at Thelma and was given a wonderful opportunity, in which she has been challenged and grown greatly. She was offered the position of Member and Operations Manager, and after some time there, she began taking on more responsibilities and asked to step into more work in community outreach. Schroeder became Community Engagement Coordinator in May of 2022. She has absolutely loved her time in this role and is so excited for all the things she hopes to do in this role in the future. Taking on this position has allowed her to grow personally and professionally, and it has connected her back to her community, for which she is so grateful. Schroeder looks forward to the Java Talk and thanks everybody so much for having her.”
