Join us for a discussion about Fond du Lac County’s Release Advance Planning (RAP) and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. Learn about these important services provided to inmates and their positive impact on community well-being.

Attendees will:

  1. Obtain understanding of the MAT and RAP Program.
  2. Obtain understanding of services provided by the Public Health Department.
  3. Be able to express one harm reduction practice.

Speaker Bio:

Katie Wirkus has been employed as a registered nurse with the Fond du Lac County Health Department since 2013. Through the Health Department she worked in the Fond du Lac County Jail from 2013 until September 2019 when she became the RAP (Release Advance Planning) Coordinator. In April 2022 the Health Department was awarded a grant to implement a MAT (Medication for Addiction Treatment) Program in the jail. Her main focus when working with individuals is helping them on their recovery journey and reducing harm. Her goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health and substance misuse, along with working on initiatives that supports the recovery community and their families.
