We have a founded belief that EVERYONE is accountable & responsible for preventing opioid abuse and addiction, and reducing the stigma associated with it. We all have a role to play. Through training and the distribution of resources we can increase the number of community members who are comfortable stepping forward, who are willing to ask simple and direct questions, and who know where to direct individuals in distress. In turn, the safety net for all Fond du Lac County residents will be enhanced.
A variety of trainings are available to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to someone who is struggling.
Together we aim to:
- Decrease opioid related deaths, opioid overdoses, and infectious disease
- Decrease stigma associated with addiction and promote use of common language for communicating about addiction
- Partner with individuals who have lived experience to develop more effective intervention strategies
How we plan to reach our goals:
Increase access to narcan and overdose prevention education.
- We host free narcan trainings in the community and can help you put on a training for your staff or agency, develop a policy to carry and have narcan on site, and provide overdose prevention materials, and education on opioid addiction, signs and symptoms, and treatment resources.
Increase access to education and resources on addiction, overdose prevention, and treatment and recovery resources
- How to change the way we talk about addiction. The language we use is important.
