Are you a Gatekeeper?

In suicide prevention, a gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. This includes parents, friends, co-workers, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, supervisors, police officers, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others.

You are a gatekeeper!

Through the generous donation of time by local Certified QPR Instructors and Destination Zero grant funds, we are able to offer the suicide prevention gatekeeper training QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer at no cost throughout Fond du Lac County. Our goal is to train as many individuals who live and work in Fond du Lac County as possible to:

  • Recognize the signs of mental distress and suicidal intent
  • Feel confident in their ability to ask simple and direct questions
  • Know how to help others access local resources if appropriate

Suicide prevention is not solely the responsibility of mental health professionals – everyone has a role to play.
